Old JC Penny Building Condominiums
Old JC Penny Building Condos real estate
The once known JC Penny building located at 43 Haywood Street/84 Market Street is now known as the Old Penny's building (and also known as the Smith Carrier Building). This building was renovated in about 2000. There is quite a history from the the old department store to the newly renovated mixed-use building. The newly renovated building offers condominiums on the upper floors and and commercial retail on the ground floor.
It was originally designed by Richard Sharp and Albert Carrier as a department store for Denton's from Chicago. It was constructed around 1923, in 1936 it was sold to JC Penny where they remained until the early 1960's, then Bon Marche occupied the building until the 1970's. Then Public Interest Project renovated the old building around 2000 turning it into condos and commercial space (mixed-use).
The Old Pennys building condos offer high ceilings, big windows, a great roof top terrace with mountain and city views for all residents to enjoy and relax, checking out the downtown activity or social events.
A covered foot path to Rankin Parking deck for parking, and of course the location is hard to beat, you are right in the heart of downtown.
