Central Asheville / Downtown
What area should we live in?
To help give you a better idea we have broken Asheville down to five areas; central, north, south, east, west, so that we can share some of the highlights of the city and give you a quick glance at Asheville real estate. Hopefully this will help you determine what area you might prefer to live and purchase real estate in.
Real estate purchases are on the rise, you can't beat stepping out of your door and being in the heart of downtown. Imagine purchasing and living in a loft condominium above the town center, with all the day and night activity that makes this city come alive. Many of these condominiums offer great views of the city and all it's night lights. So if you feel like kicking your heels up a bit, just step out your front door or sit and enjoy the activity from your balcony. Please call us for a complete list and/or a downtown tour of condominiums for sale.
Downtown Asheville is a unique and pedestrian-friendly scene, where mountain community meets the city. Downtown is filled with interesting and unique shops that offer anything from homemade soap and candles to organic clothing. Asheville is huge on art of all forms and there are many galleries showcasing local art throughout downtown. The famous and historic Grove Arcade offers fantastic shops and restaurants inside while local artists and crafters sell their wares outside.
Cafés offer specialty chocolate and organic breakfast, while restaurants offer a huge variety of dining experiences. Whether you feel like Indian food, Thai food, Italian food, sushi, or something more traditional like pizza or burgers, it can all be found in Asheville. Vegetarians fear not, Asheville is proud to be a very vegetarian-friendly city. Most restaurants will offer plenty of vegetarian options, while some are even completely vegetarian. Downtown Asheville is an amazing scene for craft beer. In fact, Asheville has been known as ‘Beer City USA’. Many pub options exist in Asheville, offering huge selections of local beer on tap. Downtown Asheville is big enough to provide lasting entertainment, yet small enough so that you can usually walk from place to place throughout the evening. If you do so, you will see many friendly locals about, as well as those new to town.
If you pass Pritchard Park you may see the open drum circle that performs every Friday night, or one of the many other concerts or gatherings that occur there. Throughout your walk on the town you may see mimes, street musicians, or a double-decker bus that turns out to be a Café. Music venues like the renowned Orange Peel are scattered throughout downtown Asheville and regularly host both local and famous bands. The US Cellular Center (formerly Asheville Civic Center) holds many events as well in the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium - sometimes concerts, but also a number of other things like comedians, basketball games, and high-school graduations. Let the expert Realtor show you a portfolio of condominiums for sale that fit your specific needs and then continue on with a tour of our downtown real estate.
