Beaver Lake is located in north Asheville on highway 25 also known as Merrimon Avenue. Beaver Lake is about 40 acres in size and offers a beautiful and scenic setting. There is non motorized boating, fishing, jogging and walking paths.
Beaver lake is in close proximity to the Country Club of Asheville, Lakeview Park, Reynolds Mountain, the Grove Park Inn, Grove Park inn, the beautiful French Broad River and the Blue Ridge Parkway. The lake is about 10/15 minutes to downtown Asheville. The town of Woodfin pretty much borders the north side of the lake. Weaverville is about 10-15 minutes drive north of Beaver Lake.

Prior to 1923, Beaver Lake was known as Baird Bottom. It was a meadow where cows grazed. Beaver Lake dam was constructed by the Charles E. Waddell & Company in 1923. This was the same engineering company that built the Biltmore Bridge, and also provided engineering design services to the City of Asheville and the Biltmore Estate. Lake View Park neighborhood was created along with Beaver Lake by noted landscape architect and urban planner John Nolen.
