Asheville archtiect Richard Smith had an architectural influence on Montford with his use of materials and construction such as stone, shingles, 12/12 pitch roofs and rocking chair front porches.
The Grove Park with it's historic homes can be seen nestled around the boundaries of the beautiful Grove Park golf course an Inn. In 1990 the Grove Park neighborhood became the Grove Park historic district and was listed with the National Historic Register. The Grove Park Inn's golf course has been rated among the top 10 U.S. courses 100 years or older by Golf Digest Magazine.
